S/Sgt Carl M. Krail immigrated to the United States in 1926. He attended Central High School.He enlisted at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri on 14 September 1943.
The bodies of Pfc Walter Keglovits and S/Sgt Carl M. Krail were found in a meadow of a local farmer, Barthel Jost on 3 April 1945. Both men were initially buried at the local cemetery and listed as missing in action until their dog tags were handed over to the American authorities by the local mayor.
