2nd Lt Samuel Korbelak received his wings in July 1943 in Texas.The airplane was hit by flak that knocked out the #3 engine. The airplane exploded and crashed on the railway track at Mahndorf. Three crew members were taken prisoner, and seven were killed. They were initially buried at the municipal cemetery of Mahndorf on 27 November 1943.
