2nd Lt Vincient H. Gordey was a barber.

He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army on 13 June 1941.

His father died in 1921 and his mother remarried. According to the 1930 census, he and his brothers and sisters were all called Winegeart.

The airplane was hit by flak that knocked out the #3 engine. The airplane exploded and crashed on the railway track at Mahndorf. Three crew members were taken prisoner, and seven were killed. They were initially buried at the municipal cemetery of Mahndorf on 27 November 1943.
