More information

2nd Lt Pat T. Condin graduated from West Springfield High School.

He enlisted on 1 October 1942 at Springfield, Massachusetts.

A/C 7041 received a direct hit by flak from an intense barrage almost immediately after bombs away and fell out of formation, burning. One chute was seen to come out. Then the aircraft exploded and fell in several burning pieces.

Statement from T/Sgt Frank H. Hudson:
"I learned from S/Sgt Erben A. Sabel that he had been told by the German authorities, who had examined the wreckage, that the three officers that remained with the ship had all been killed. Their names were 1st Lt Douglas Meigide, 2nd Lt Pat Condon and 2nd Lt John J. Kaufmann."

This information was imparted to him by a German officer at Dulag Luft, a prison transit camp in Germany.
