Pfc Arnold L. Zbornik enlisted on 24 February 1944 at Camp Dodge Herrold, Iowa.Received his basis infantry training at Camp Maxey, Texas and left overseas in the fall of 1944. He was home on furlough in August 1944. His parents received his last letter on 4 May 1945 which he had written on 19 April 1945 in Germany.
He was a graduate of Cresco High School where he was a member of the Boys’ Glee Club, being active in extracurricular activities and one of the school’s most outstanding students. He was gifted with unusual dramatic talent. He was a salesperson before he enlisted.
