Claus P. Carlson was born in Sweden as Klas Paul Karlsson. His father Klas Karlsson married Emma on 25 March 1922 and from this marriage two children were born. Dagney Marie and Klas Paul Karlsson. The family emigrated to the US on 8 January 1924, sailing with the vessel Drottningholm from Gotheburg, Sweden to New York. The father changed his name to Claus Carlson, Dagnie Marie changed her name to Marion Dagney Carlson and Klas Paul changed his name to Claus Paul Carlson.
