Pfc. George E. Rose attended grammar school and was employed at the Haverstraw Industrial Terminal at Garnerville before he enlisted on 22 September 1944 in New York City, New York.He trained with an engineer unit at Camp Belvoir, Virginia and was later transferred to an infantry unit at Camp Gordon, Georgia. He then went to Camp Shanks and went overseas in February 1945. He landed in France and fought in Belgium and Germany.
