2nd Lt Hub G. Hyatt graduated from Spur High School and owned and operated a grocery store in Hamlin for a time, traveled for a wholesale grocer and operated a grocery store in Abilene before he enlisted at Fort Bliss El Paso, Texas on 18 March 1941.He was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant with a battlefield commission, just one month before he was killed in action.
