More information

1st Lt Alvin J. Morman attended the University of Iowa for one year.

He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve as a private in Iowa City, Iowa on 7 Mai 1942.

The aircraft was lost during intense fighter attacks by approximately 100 FW 190s and ME 109s at about 1240 hours. Due to the fact that the entire squadron was lost during these encounters, there are no particulars available on the attack and loss of this aircraft.

Top Turret Gunner Mario J. Manfredini stated:
"Plane was hit by fighters and set afire. Lt Morman was still at the controls trying to keep plane level when I jumped. I never saw him after I jumped. Germans told the Navigator that he was found dead in the plane."

1st Lt Morman was initially buried at the community cemetery of Wachow on 16 January 1945.
