S/Sgt Frank A. Grubb volunteered for the Army of the United States in Salt Lake City, Utah on 11 June 1942.

Aircraft 330, piloted by Captain Pederson left the formation right over the target, after flak knocked out 2 engines and was losing altitude rapidly. Six crew members succesfully bailed out and survived and were taken prisoner. Four crew members were killed.
