2nd Lt Jonathan V. Mohn enlisted from Portland, Oregon, on 10 November 1942.

A/C #198 was hit by flak 6 miles south of Koblenz at 1245 hours. Hit was between #3 and #4 engines, which set his right wing on fire. No. 4 engine was knocked out. A/C stayed level for 10 seconds, then made a slow right turn losing altitude, and trailed formation for about ½ mile. A/C then lost right wing, going into flat spin and disintegrating. One chute was observed, with possibly 4 delayed jumps.
Four men survived and were made POW, the remaining 5 crew members were KIA.

2nd Lt Jonathan V. Mohn was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery Ardennes, Belgium Block O, Row 6, Grave 134.
