Ralph L. Hanson graduated from Granite High School and attended the University of Utah and the Utah State Agricultural College. He joined Army Air Corps on 14 January 1942 as an aviation cadet. He was sent overseas in February 1943.The aircraft was probably shot down by enemy fighters.
One crew member survived the crash, nine men were killed. They were initially buried at the cemetery of Bad-Zwischenahn, Germany.
