S/Sgt Floyd E. Wibbler worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 3 July 1942.

He was wounded in action by artillery shell fragments and died of his wounds the same day.

He is remembered at the St James Lutheran East Cemetery in Holland, Dubois County, Indiana with a memorial marker.

The family name is also spelled Wibbeler.
