Pvt Orville L. Blake was a woodworker before he enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana on 28 March 1944.He was reported lightly wounded in action on 15 November 1944 when the 1st Battalion was holding positions South of Arbaincourt and Brulange. He was evacuated to the 35th Evacuation Hospital, located at that time in the Hôpital Villemin in Nancy, France were he died of his wounds caused by artillery shell fragments in his femur and shoulder.
