More information

Sgt Elwin M. Rigdon worked on the family farm before he enlisted at Fort Bliss, Texas on 28 April 1944. He trained in Camp Joseph J. Robinson, Arkansas and Fort Meade, Maryland.

He was killed by artillery shell fragments in the chest and arm.

According to 1st Lt W.H. Rewick, the Personnel Officer the company was attacking through the woods on high grond when the Germans trew a light artillery barrage on the company, just before it reached its objective. It was during this artillery barrage that Sgt Rigdon was killed.
