Pfc Randall A. Powless first enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force but was discharged because he was too young. He enlisted in Buffalo, New York, on 25 January 1944 and was sent overseas in August 1944.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Grand Failly, France.
