Pfc Chester H. Panfil attended high school for one year and was a storekeeper employed by Empire Warehouse before he enlisted in Chicago, Illinois on 24 August 1942.

He was killed by multiple wounds in the abdomen, pelvis and back caused by artillery shell fragments.
