Pvt Norman F. Harty was a filling station attendant employed by U.S. Equipment section, Engineering Department at the Washington National Airport, Washington DC, before he enlisted in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on 13 December 1943.

He was killed by machine gun bullets in his thorax.
