Pfc Henry T. Ford attended 2 years of high school and worked in a metal producing factory before he enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 24 February 1943.

On 15 September he was lightly wounded in action, later corrected to seriously wounded in action, in the vicinity of Pont-à-Mousson, France, and was sent to the 60th Field Hospital in Martincourt.
