Pvt Harley S. Eychner attended high school for two years and was a chauffeur for the General Cable Corp. before he joined the National Guard in New York City on 13 April 1942.
He enlisted in Utica, New York on 21 March 1944 and was sent overseas at the end of September 1944.
He was reported missing in action on 9 October when K Company gained control of Hill 407, 1 mile South of Jeandelaincourt.
His daughter Dona was born on 26 November 1944, about 1 month after his death.
