T/Sgt Clyde S. Maddox volunteered for the U.S. Army in San Antonio, Texas on 28 May 1942.

The airplane was hit by flak just before bombs away sending the B-26 into a dive with one engine on fire. The bail out alarm was immediately sounded but only two of the crew survived. It crashed at 1145hrs on a house in the Rue Leon Desoyer at Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, killing two civilians.

Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner, four men were killed.

T/Sgt Maddox is remembered at the New Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, Palo Pinto County, Texas.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Solers, France.
