More information

Pvt George Murray graduated from Maple Heights High School and was a patrolman with the Maple Heights Police Department for two years.

He enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 30 September 1943. He was sent overseas in July 1944 and wrote home last in August 1944. He was reported missing in action in France and presumed dead. His dog tags were returned to his wife over 10 years later. Presumably because his body was found at that time. It is said that he has stepped on a landmine.

His brother-in-law, Robert M. Paster, was killed in action eight days earlier and is also buried at American War Cemetery Ardennes at Plot D, Row 5, Grave 13. They enlisted on the same day.
