Pvt William J. Blank was married to June Alice Schiffner on 9 August 1941.

He enlisted in Allentown, Pennsylvania on 24 September 1943 and received his basic training at Camp Wheeler, Georgia. He was sent overseas in July 1944 and first saw action in Italy.

His brother Christian also served in France.
