Sgt Leonard D. Hulbert joined the U.S. Army Reserve at Fort Sheridan, Illinois on 9 February 1944.The aircraft collided in mid-air with another B-24 #42-50868. both aircraft went down. Four parachutes were seen. Two crew members survived and were taken prisoner. Eight were killed and were initially buried in a common grave in rhe village cemetery of Garbeck.
