T/Sgt Josephine B. Payton worked in a sawmill.

He enlisted in Louisville, Kentucky on 15 September 1942.

The airplane was attacked by enemy fighters which resulted in fire under the flight deck and a part of the rudder was shot off. Seven crew members survived and were taken prisoner.

Three were killed and were initially buried at the community cemetery of Soisdorf in a common grave.
