He joined the Air Corps of the U.S. Army Reserve in Lafayette Louisiana on 8 December 1942.

The aircraft was downed by a direct flak hit.

The entire crew of nine was killed and initially buried at the cemetery of the airbase headquarters of Achmer, Germany.
