S/Sgt Emmett Melton volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States on 2 October 1942 at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana.His aircraft was attacked by enemy aircraft. He died from anoxia before the plane crashed. It was his fifth mission.
