S/Sgt Robert L. Evans graduated from Medina High School in 1940 where he was a star baseball player. He was employed by the Goodyear Aircraft Company in Akron, Ohio.He enlisted in Cleveland, Ohio on 22 June 1942.
The airplane was lost as the result of enemy aircraft attacks and was last seen near the Dutch coast. It is assumed the airplane crashed into the sea, north of Texel. All crew members are still missing in action and are all remembered at the Walls of the Missing at Margraten.
He is remembered at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Medina County, Ohio.
