Sgt Gordon P. Crawford was educated in Ada, graduating from Horace Mann High School, where he was active in athletics, particularly in basketball. He had been employed for some time by the state highway department in Oklahoma City before he entered the air forces.In January, Sgt Crawford wrote to his sister that he had taken part in 27 Missions over the European continent.
Aircraft was shot down by enemy fighters over the North Sea on return from bombing Venlo airport, the Netherlands. The whole crew was reported MIA.
Sgt. Gordon P. Crawford is remembered at the Rosedale Cemetery in Ada, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma.
