More information

T/Sgt Julian F. Baggett graduated from Teague High School and attended Wichita Junior College and A & M.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Dallas, Texas on 29 December 1941.

On the return flight, Fw-190 fighters attacking from the rear at five o'clock hit the airplane. Pieces of the elevator were seen to fall off. A part of the left wing, and flap and also aileron were seen to fly off. The left engine was afire. It then peeled off to the left and dived just before it entered a cloud bank in a steep dive. Fire appeared to be catching on the tail. The airplane gave the impression that an attempt was being made to regain control.

This was the 32nd mission of T/Sgt Baggett.

T/Sgt Julian F. Baggett and 1st Lt Robert K. Lammers were remembered at the Walls of the Missing at Margraten. The other crew members John H. Falls, Robert E. Evans, Henry E. McGill and Ernest E. Coe are remembered at the Tablets of the Missing at Cambridge.

T/Sgt Baggett is remembered at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague, Freestone County, Texas with a memorial marker.
