S/Sgt Virgilio Jacoby enlisted on 15 July 1942 at Camden, New Jersey.The airplane was shot down by enemy fighters. Four crew members were taken prisoner, and six men were killed.
S/Sgt Jacoby went down with the airplane. Fire caught him before he could bail out.
He was initially buried at the community cemetery of Bischbrunn, Germany.
