S/Sgt James H. Redwing enlisted in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 14 September 1942.

The crew bailed out near the Channel coast of France on the return flight and crashed on an old airfield near Etrepagny, about 11 miles northwest of Gisors, France. He was the only one killed in action, 6 were taken prisoner and 3 evaded capture.
