2nd Lt Kenneth E. Gross joined the National Guard in Nashville, Tennessee on 24 February 1941.

The airplane was shot down by enemy fighters. Four crew members were taken prisoner, and six men were killed.

S/Sgt Jacoby went down with the airplane. Fire caught him before he could bail out.
