Pvt William A. Taylor graduated from Sanders Trade School and was employed by a tree servicing company in White Plains.

He enlisted in Chicago, Illinois on 13 July 1942 and was sent overseas in July 1943. He participated in the D-Day landings during which he was wounded in action and evacuated to England for treatment. For this wound he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal a first time.

He was seriously wounded on the 20 September 1944 and died a day later.

He was initially buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Molenhoek, the Netherlands.
