Sgt Charles F. Shelley graduated from Clinton High School (now Daniel Webster) in 1934. He was employed at a mill in Sand Springs.

He entered the Army at Oklahoma on 21 October 1942. He was sent overseas September 21, 1943.
From the MACR: Aircraft No. 42-29794 this group was seen at 1155 hours, 27,000 feet, 5038N. - 0728E., under control and pulling off to the left with pieces of its wing coming off.
The pilot of his plane at the time they were killed was 2nd Lt Leonard F Anderson, O-742649.
