More information

1st Lt Dale E. Brant worked in his father's company.

S/Sgt Russell L. Waggoner:
We were flying at approximately 27,500 feet altitude just after bombs away. Aircraft B-17G, 43-38202, was hit during the first attack by one or more enemy fighters. At this time we were under fighter attack and when I again had time to observe what I believe to have been aircraft 43-38202 it had peeled off low and to the right of the formation. I believe that there was a small fire in the left wing. When last observed subject aircraft seemed to be under control. No parachutes were seen to come from the ship.

2nd Lt Charles R. Hackstock:
He bailed out from the escape hatch. I believed his left shoulder had been injured. I believe he was killed by German civilians.
