Leo Carey attended St. Anne's High School and worked at Camp NP-2 in Luray, Virginia, as part of the Civilian Conservation Corps.Eyewitness statement:
"We were attacked by a German fighter in Belgium and our left engine caught fire. We had to leave the aircraft. Flight Officer was killed by parts of the plane that blew up immediately after abandoning the ship."
