Pfc Robert W. Hoffman attended Englewood High School before he enlisted in Newark, New Jersey on 1 December 1943.He was officially declared dead one year and one day after he was reported missing in action. At that time his unit was fighting in the vicinity of Hartungshof, Germany.
A rosette is placed next to the name on the Tablets of the Missing to mark that he is accounted for.
He is also remembered at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, Bergen County, New Jersey.
