John B. Anderson graduated from Westwood High School.

The airplane was hit by flak over the target. #2 engine was on fire and burning badly for about five minutes. The airplane swerved right off target then left and was under control until all the men had bailed out. It then exploded in mid-air.

Eight crew members were taken prisoner, only Lt Anderson was killed.
