Max E Liming enlisted in the US Army at Patterson Field Fairfield, Ohio on 13 April 1942. He married Elsie Jane Owens on 15 April 1943 in Harris, Texas.According to 1st Lt Douglas Winter, Pilot of the Flying Fortress "The Great Profile", on which Lt Liming was co-pilot, Lt Liming and four crw members parachuted to earth over Germany. 1st Lt Winter ordered the crew to bail out after fire broke out in the cockpit. Lt Winter and five other crewmembers rode the flaming plane to a crash landing in England.
2nd Lt Liming was initially buried in Danmark.
