1st Lt Marvin N. Vinson joined the Regular Army in Ames, Iowa on 25 May 1942.Lt Vinson was forced to bail out at 2150 hrs after his aircraft caught fire about 20 north of Houdan in the Seine Valley, east of Dreux, during a dog-fight with FW190s. His aircraft crashed at Thiveral, about seven miles northwest of Versailles. He died of burn wounds six days later.
He was first buried at Temporary American Military Cemetery of Solers, France.
