Joseph L. P. Dube was a textile weaver.

He volunteered for the Army of the United States in Manchester, New Hampshire on 1 July 1942.

Enemy aircraft fire hit #3 engine, setting it on fire. The airplane fell out of formation, flaming from the cockpit.

Four crew members survived and were taken prisoner, seven men were killed.

He was first buried at the Temporary American Military Cemetery of Solers, France.
