Hugh F. Burnett attended college for one year and was a typesetter.

He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 25 March 1942.

Lt Burnett parachuted from low altitude but didn't survive. He was initially buried at the Jewish Cemetery of Hoya on 23 March 1944.

The other nine crew members survived and were taken prisoner.
