Sgt Raymond G. Seaman enlisted in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 22 February 1943.
The airplane was attacked by enemy fighters, knocking out #2 and #3 engine along with the oxygen equipment.

Six crew members survived and were taken prisoner, four men were killed.

Surviving crew member reports indicate that Sgt Seaman was wounded. It is presumed that he was either dead by the time the bail out order was given or that he was unable to bail out.
