2nd Lt Harry B. Britter worked in an automobile factory.

He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army enlisted at Fort MacArthur, California on 8 August 1940.

The aircraft received a direct flak hit in the fuselage just back of the wings in the target area. It immediately broke in half and fell away in two pieces.

Eight crew members were killed, one man survived and was taken prisoner.
