More information

Lt Urman, a graduate of Phoenix Union High School and was employed at Williams Field as a clerk typist when he volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States on 24 March 1942

The airplane collided in mid-air with B-17 #42-3533. All crew members of both planes, twenty men in total, were killed.

He received personal commendations from Prime Minister Winston Churchill and high ranking British and American air officers for his successful bombing missions to Emden, Frankfurt and Goesfeld, Germany. A few weeks before his death he wrote home from England to his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Skomer, telling her that he had seven combat missions to complete (out of 25) before he would get a well-deserved leave in the states.
