T/Sgt Santiago M. Cano was a citrus picker.

He enlisted in Los Angeles, California on 25 May 1942.

His wife died while giving birth to their son. When Santiago Cano had to leave for Europe, he left his son with his mother.

The airplane collided in mid-air with B-17 #42-30776. All crew members of both planes, twenty men in total were killed.

He is remembered at the Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, King County, Washington.
