1st Lt Kenneth R. Cabewas was in his senior year at N.C. State College and was an architect. He volunteered for the Air Corps of the Army of the United States in Knoxville, Tennessee on 23 Arpil 1942. He was sent to Kelly Field, Texas for basic training. He received his wings and commission at Altos, Oklahoma in May 1943. He arrived in England in September 1943

The airplane collided in mid-air with B-17 #42-3533. All crew members of both planes, twenty men in total, were killed.
