More information

1st Lt Alexander Winsor Jr. graduated from Middlesex High School in 1933 and Harvard University in 1939.
He enlisted on 25 May 1942 at Boston, Massachusetts.

"I was flying as Waist Gunner with Lt Fallon when a series of explosions attracted my attention to Lt Winsor's plane. It was hit by several rapid bursts of flak and flames were seen to come from the open Bomb Bay. The plane then split in two and the bombs fell from the plane almost immediately following the explosion. I then noticed two chutes about 4,000 feet below that must have been from the rear of Lt Winsor's plane. I followed the plane down until it hit and did not notice any more chutes".
