2nd Lt Clarence C. Bixler graduated from Weston High School and was employed at the Simplex Paper Corp.He joined the Air Corps of the Regular Army in Detroit, Michigan on 28 October 1941.
The airplane was last seen 10 kilometres west of Texel Island over the North Sea when it dropped out of formation with its wheels down. It appeared to be under control when last seen.
All ten crew members were killed. Only the body of the bombarbier, 1st Lt John W. Hull, washed ashore on Terschelling Island, The Netherlands on 13 February 1944.
